#review; The Sun is Also a Star

recently, I just read a novel from Nicola Yoon. to be honest, I'm so interested with the beautiful cover and interesting title, "The Sun Is Also A Star". I don't know, it's just sounds beautiful to me, and so does the story. I'm not really into romance, because I'm the type of person who reads sci-fi, detectives, adventures, or some kind of thriller novels. this is the first time for me to read Nicola Yoon's book, and I think I just falling in love with her writings. so, let me begin.

the story began when a korean boy named Daniel Jae Ho Bae, had a 'perfect' kind of family. his life just began to destroyed when his ass-hole (at least for him) brother yet could do anything better than him, Charlie, suspended from Harvard University and made his parents so disappointed. and without his agreement, the burden for Daniel to be a 'perfect' kind of son increased due to the failure of his brother. on the other side, Charlie hated his brother as much as he hated the fact that he's korean.

there's a girl named Natasha, whom had a family in the situation that they're labelled as "undocumented immigrants" and had to leave America as soon as possible before getting deported to their country, Jamaica. Natasha fought for her rights to United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) because she didn't want to leave America just like that. she felt like there's nothing related to her in Jamaica, even her best friend for life, lives in America. she didn't want to lose all the things she had just like that.

on the day when Natasha had to leave America, she just walked around the town because she knew that she couldn't come back to America in the near future. she just walked randomly to a record store, and she met Daniel for the first time there. and this is when the real story began.

I'm adoring the way Nicola Yoon writes the one-day story become a whole book, it seems like if we're having a bad day, the day runs longer than usual. what she wants us to know that in the middle of desperation, there will always be a hope, at least a last hope. the most interesting part in this book is Nicola Yoon tells the story from so many point of views. so we could find so many names in this book whose related to the main characters' story. the story itself being so simple yet so romantic in an unique way. we could find some pieces of poetry, the way she describes it uniquely. this is the first time I read a short love story in a whole book and packed in the most simple yet sophisticated style.

Nicola Yoon describes so many characters in a really good way, in case to keep the story going on the line. and this is why this book becomes so interesting and exciting to read. you could find so many thoughts aside from the main characters, and it makes the narrative's of the story more interesting. I really enjoy reading this book because I feel like she wrote it with such a really great flows and I drowned myself in that flow.

I promised myself to read another Nicola Yoon's book another time. and I meant it!
happy reading!
